Run announcement for 1/26…

Saturday morning at 8:30 the Dirt Dog Trail Runners will be running a 5-mile course on Las Trampas trail starting in Danville. Sonia and I will be out early to mark the course and Chuck will be at the start to meet, greet & sweep.

Driving Directions: From the 680/24 intersection take 680 South. Exit at Stone Valley West. Turn Left onto Danville Blvd. Right onto Del Amigo (past Camille and just before El Cerro Blvd). Park at Del Amigo School on your left. Meet on the Iron Horse Trail...You are at the start. 

Heading 680 North exit at El Cerro Blvd and make a left. Turn Rt on Danville Blvd (at 2nd set of lights) and then an almost immediate left onto Del Amigo.

Run announcement for 1/12…

Saturday morning at 8:30 the Dirt Dog Trail runners will be running a 6-mile course (give or take a bit) from Castle Rock Park in Walnut Creek. With all the rain we may be doing some rock hoping to cross the streams…a fun run even with the rain leaving streams through-out the course. Linda will be out early to mark the course and I (Tina) will be at the start to greet and sweep.

Driving Directions: Exit I-680 at Ygnacio Rd in Walnut Creek and drive east. After about three miles turn right on Walnut AVENUE (NOT Walnut Blvd). After about two miles enter the roundabout and go right on Castle Rock Road. Follow Castle Rock Road till the end past the horse stables and park on the left.

Run announcement for 1/5…

Saturday morning at 8:30 the Dirt Dog Trail Runners will be running a course from the Alhambra Staging Area in Martinez. Sonia will be out early to mark the course and Chuck will be at the start to greet & sweep. There is a possibility of rain. If it’s a light rain, we can still go for it. I am not sure if there will be anyone from the park district to collect the $3.00 parking fee so consider carpooling.

Directions: for Alhambra Staging Area, Brookwood Dr., Martinez, CA 94553

From the 24-freeway heading West, exit Pleasant Hill Blvd, veer right once you hit Taylor Blvd., stay left. Turn left at Grayson Rd, turn right on Reliez Valley Rd. Once you see a horse staging area make a left which is Brookside Dr. Drive all the way down the road until you reach a parking lot.  

From the 4-freeway heading West Exit at Alhambra Blvd and turn left. Turn right at 2nd set of lights Alhambra Valley Rd. Turn left at Reliez Valley Rd 3-way stop. Once you see a horse staging area, make a right which is Brookside Dr. Drive all the way down the road until you reach a parking lot.  


There is a chance you will have to pay $3 for parking per car.

Run announcement for 12/22...

Saturday morning at 8:30 the Dirt Dog Trail Runners will be running a 6-mile loop course in Clayton. James will be out early to mark the course and Mary Ann will be at the start to greet and sweep.

Driving Directions: From the 680/24 Interchange take Ygnacio Valley Road towards Concord. Climb up and over Lime Ridge, go past the Cal State East Bay campus and turn right onto Clayton Road. Follow Clayton Road into Clayton and turn right onto Marsh Creek Road. Go about a mile on Marsh Creek Road and turn right onto El Molino. Park immediately since you are at the start of the run.

NOTE: There is a possibility of rain on Friday (tomorrow), if this occurs we will have to cancel. Please check back tomorrow afternoon/evening for an update.

HOLIDAY ORNAMENT RUN - SUNDAY morning at 8:30 the Dirt Dog Trail Runners will be running in Lafayette from Kat's office at 971 Dewing Ave. The run will go up Mt. Diablo Blvd, enter to the "tree" at the Lafayette Reservoir and return on Mt. Diablo Blvd. Runners should bring an ornament to put on the tree at the reservoir and some food to share with the group at the post-run gathering.  
Driving Directions: From the 680/24 Interchange take Hwy 24 West (towards Orinda). Exit at the Central Lafayette Exit. Make a right at the bottom of the ramp and at the first light and go back under Hwy 24. Turn right again onto Mt. Diablo Blvd. Go 1/3 mile and turn Left on Dewing Ave. Then take the first right turn into the parking lot.

Driving Directions: From the 680/24 interchange take the Ygnacio Valley Road Toward Concord. Turn right on Homestead (2nd light after Civic). Turn left on Marshall. Follow Marshall to the end of the road and park on Marshall in front of the Indian Valley School.

On Saturday morning at 8:30 the Dir Dog Trail Runners will be running an out and back course on the Lafayette-Moraga Trail. This is a paved course and will not be marked so you will be able to choose your distance. We will meet rain or shine.
Driving Directions: From the 680/24 Interchange take 24 towards Oakland. Exit at Pleasant Hill Road South. Follow Pleasant Hill Road to where it ends at Olympic Blvd. Turn right on Olympic Blvd and right again into the parking lot at the corner.

Run announcement for 11/10…

Saturday morning at 8:30 the Dirt Dog Trail Runners will be running a 6-mile loop course in Pleasanton Ridge Regional Park in Pleasanton. A 4-mile option will be available for those wanting a shorter run. It can get hot early, so a hat is highly recommended. Sonia will be out early to mark the course and John will be at the start to greet and sweep.

Driving Directions: From the 680/24 interchange take 680 South. Exit at the Sunol Road Exit (Exit 25). Turn right at the bottom of the ramp and stay to your right where the road divides to Castlewood Rd. Go past the golf course and turn left on Foothill Road. Go about 1 ½ - 2 miles on Foothill Road and look for the park’s parking lot on your right.

Run announcement for 11/3…
Saturday morning the Dirt Dog Trail Runners will be running a 5/6-mile course at the Lafayette Reservoir - “The Upper Rim” Trail. We will meet at the entrance of the reservoir at the top of the hill by the Restrooms & Fish Cleaning station. The course will not be marked, however, if you are not familiar with this run let Chuck know.
Driving Directions: From the 680/24 Interchange, merge onto CA-24 W take the Acalanes Road exit, (Exit 11), toward upper Happy Valley Road. Keep right at the fork in the ramp. Merge onto Acalanes Road; turn slight left onto Mt Diablo Blvd. Lafayette Reservoir is on your right (3849 Mt. Diablo Blvd).
If you continue past the reservoir entrance, you can park on Village Ctr, which is the first street past the reservoir or on Mt Diablo Road. Running from this location will add 1 mile to the course. This will give you a 6-mile run. If you park at the reservoir there is a parking charge and that course will be 5 miles.

Run announcement for 10/27...

Saturday morning at 8:30 the Dirt Dog Trail Runners will be running a 6-mile loop course on Shell Ridge from Whitecliff Way in Walnut Creek. Ginny will be out early to mark the course and has said to watch out for snakes which are plentiful this time of year and Gerry will be at the start to get everyone going and sweep up Ginny's arrows.

Course directions will be given at the run.

Driving Directions: From the 680/24 Interchange take 680 South. Exit onto South Main Street going South. Turn Left onto Rudgear Road. Take Rudgear Road past Rudgear Park. Turn left on Whitecliff Way and follow it to the end where the run will start.

Run announcement for 10/20…

Saturday morning at 8:30 the Dirt Dog Trail Runners will be running a 5.5-mile course at Las Trampas Regional Park. There will also be a 4-mile option for those wanting a shorter run. Chuck will be out early to mark the course and Linda will be at the start to get us started.

This is known as the Randy Bench Run. It is a great course with awesome views and a chance to pay a visit to Randy’s Bench.

Driving Directions: From the 680/24 interchange take 680 South towards Dublin. Exit at Crow Canyon and turn right at the end of the ramp. Turn right on Bollinger Canyon Road. Park in the paved parking lot on the left-hand side of Bollinger just past Las Trampas stables.

Run announcement for 9/24…

Monday evening at 6:30 the Dirt Dog Trail Runners will be running a 3 to 4-mile course at Shell Ridge from Marshall Drive in Walnut Creek. Chuck will be out early to mark an out & back course and Tom will be at the start to greet and sweep. There will be a 2-mile and a 1.5-mile turnaround marker but as always you may go out farther if you’d like.

Run announcement for 9/17…

Monday evening, at 6:30, the Dirt Dog Trail Runners will be running a 3-mile course on Shell Ridge. Ginny will be out early to mark the course and Anne will be at the start to greet and sweep. We have shortened the runs as it is getting dark earlier but feel free to go out further if you’d like.

NOTE: Beginning October, we will be switching to weekend runs either Saturday or Sunday morning. We are looking for feedback on which day you would prefer. Please let us know.

Also, we are always looking to add new, fun courses so if you have a trail that you enjoy and are willing to mark the course please let us know. We will be back to 6-mile runs with shorter options available once we start morning runs.

Driving Directions:  From the 680/24 interchange take the Ygnacio Valley Road exit.  Follow Ygnacio Valley Road East past Civic and turn right at the next traffic light onto Walnut Blvd. Follow Walnut Blvd for 2+ miles. Turn left onto Rockspring Place. Park on the street where the Joaquin Ranch Trail crosses.
