5/29 Dirt Dog Run @ 8:30AM

Monday morning, Memorial Day, at 8:30 the Dirt Dog Trail Runners will be running a 'lollipop' course on Lime Ridge from Arbolado Park in Walnut Creek.  A pot luck picnic brunch will follow the run at the park.  Vivek will be out early marking the course, Alex will be along later to sweep the course, and Doug will get everyone started.

The course:  The long-course path will be wide if it is more of a 'lollipop' route, with the loop starting/ending after the tunnel under Ygnacio; till there and from there 'yoyo' (out-&-back).  Short-course is to some point before tunnel and back - all wide-path.  On the return, after re-crossing the tunnel I would offer (for the more adventurous) an alternate route - which will have some brush - but would be somewhat more scenic.

Driving Directions:  From the 680/24 Interchange take Ygnacio Valley Road towards Concord.  After you pass the Hospital turn right on Walnut Ave.  Follow Walnut Ave. to the traffic circle and turn right onto Castle Rock Road.  Turn left onto North Gate Rd.  Turn left on Sutton Drive and follow it to the end.  Turn right on Arbolado Drive.  Turn left into the parking lot.

5/8 Dirt Dog Run @ 6:30PM

Monday evening at 6:30 the Dirt Dog Trail Runners will be running an out and back course on the Mt. Diablo - Briones Regional Trail from Indian Valley School in Walnut Creek.  The run will be entirely on fire roads.  This is a dog friendly run.  Doug will be at the start to get everyone going.

The heavy rains this year have created quite a few dangers to be on guard against, especially on single track trails.  Ticks are abundant in the high grass, rattlesnakes on the side of a trail may not be easy to spot, and poison oak is very heavy.  Our runs this month will be mostly on fire roads until these dangers subside.

Driving Directions:  From the 680/24 interchange take Ygnacio Valley Road towards Concord.  Turn right on Homstead (2nd light after Civic).  Turn left on Marshall and follow it to the end.  Park on the street in front of Indian Valley School.  You are at the start.
