1/31 Dirt Dog Run @ 8:30AM

Sunday morning at 8:30 the Dirt Dog Trail Runners will be running an out and back course on Nimitz Way, a paved bike trail on the ridge above Berkeley.  The run will begin in the Inspiration Point parking lot off Wildcat Canyon Road.  We are once again on pavement because the local dirt trails are muddy and slippery.  There is a dirt path along the trail.  Doug will be at the start to get everyone started.

Driving Directions:  From the 680/24 interchange take 24 towards Oakland.  Exit at the Orinda exit and bear right at the bottom of the ramp.  Follow San Pablo Dam Road towards Richmond.  Turn left on Wildcat Canyon Road.  Look for the parking lot on your right near the top of the hill.

We look forward to your joining our run.

1/24 Dirt Dog Run @ 8:30AM

Sunday morning at 8:30 the Dirt Dog Trail Runners will be running an out and back course on the Lafayette - Moraga Regional Trail from the corner of Pleasant Hill Road and Olympic Blvd. in Lafayette.  We are running on pavement since the local trails are already very muddy and slippery.  The rain we are getting and will get later this week won't make things better.  We will be running rain or shine.  Hopefully Sunday morning will not be rainy.  Doug will be at the start to get everyone going in the right direction.

Driving Directions:  From the 680/24 Interchange take 24 towards Oakland.  Exit at the Pleasant Hill Road South exit.  Take Pleasant Hill Road to the end and turn right on Olympic Blvd.  Make an almost immediate right into the parking lot on the corner where the run will start.

We look forward to your joining our run.

1/17 Dirt Dog Run @ 8:30AM

This Sunday, January 17, at 8:30 am we will be running once again on pavement. With the weather forecast predicting rain over the next few days, the trails will probably be very muddy.  The plan is to start at Alex's apartment (address and directions below) and run on the Contra Costa Canal Trail. After the run everybody is invited to come to my place for a cup of hot soup.

The course will not be marked. You can turn around at any time  But here are some guidelines.

We will run South on the trail, cross Treat Blvd (1.5 miles) at the traffic light and continue on the Canal Trail.
At the intersection with Ygnacio trail (2.0 miles) you continue straight on Ygnacio trail up the hill.
When you run through the tunnel under Ygnacio, you will have done 3 miles. (2.9 if you are really picky...)

If the trails are somewhat runnable, Alex will mark a 4 mile loop on the Lime Ridge Open Space.  Alex will have details on Sunday morning;

Directions to Alex's apartment:

1070 San Miguel Road A8
Concord CA 94518

(Building A is on the corner of San Miguel and Tioga and my apt is on the second floor, facing BART tracks)

From 680 North, take the Monument Blvd Exit. Turn Right onto Monument Blvd and follow for about 2 miles (past Cosco).  Turn right onto Systron Drive. Turn Right onto San Miguel. Turn Left onto Tioga road

Park on Tioga Road, or in the apartment complex in any spot that does not have a number.

1/10 Dirt Dog Run @ 8:30AM

Sunday morning at 8:30 the Dirt Dog Trail Runners will be running about 6 miles on a paved course on the Contra Costa Canal and Ygnacio Canal trails from Heather Farm Park in Walnut Creek.  The course will start by the dog park at the end of North San Carlos Road.  We are running on pavement since the recent rains have converted the dirt trails we like to run on into slippery, muddy paths.  Vivek will be out early marking the course and Tina will be at the start to get everyone going.  She will also have maps to pass out and will sweep up Vivek's arrows.  Vivek will put mile marks for those wanting a shorter course willing to run an out and back route.

This is a dog-friendly course.

Driving Directions:  From the 680/24 interchange take Ygnacio Valley Road towards Concord.  Go past the John Muir Medical Center.  Turn left on North San Carlos Road and follow it to the end.  Park in parking lot in front of the dog park.

We look forward to your joining our run.
